Hanuman Karha Chocolate Chip Cookies

Hanuman Karha Chocolate Chip Cookies

Hanuman Karha Chocolate Chip cookies swept the Hanuman Festival (June 8th - 10th) with sun-baked goodness! Vegan, organic, and fresh out of the solar oven - they were morsels of heavenly perfection. If you've been looking for the recipe, look no futher.

The cookies are baked with Hanuman Chai Karha. That's what gives them their intricate flavor and balancing energy. You can use any cookie dough with the same method. Here's a recipe using vegan dough.

Hanuman Chai Karha Chocolate Chip Cookies

Makes 32 cookies.

1 cup margarine, room temperature
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 tablespoon water
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips (or vegan carob chips)

2 tsp Hanuman Chai Karha*
*At the Hanuman Festival, we used Spring Karha.

Cream the margarine and sugar in a mixing bowl.

Roll into pucks.
Stir in the vanilla, water, flour, baking soda, and chocolate chips, and mix until well blended.

Roll dough into large pucks (approximately 8 in this recipe).

Place on a baking sheet and freeze until firm.

Sprinkle Karha on
the bottom layer.
Slice the pucks horizontally (to make disks).

Separate top halves from bottom halves.

Sprinkle between 1/8 and 1/4 tsp Hanuman Chai on the bottom halves.
Sandwich the layers
and squeeze before cutting.

Put top halves back, and squeeze slightly.

Cut the pucks into fourths.

Roll fourths into cookie dough balls and place on baking sheet.

Bake cookies at 350 degrees (or in a solar oven!) until golden*.
Temperature may vary depending on your oven/heat source. Always make sure the cookies are done to gain the full benefits of Karha!
